Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
