Garda Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those not related in any way to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
