Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
