Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Phone Fraud Schemes

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and high Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
