Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Area Business Owners

They pose as carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have become a target of individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
