Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

However, they are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear and do not show up again.
