Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance police, regular police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear and no longer make contact.
