Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Offering Suspicious Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Law Enforcement magazines.

This is not about military personnel, but rather con artists who, each time, claim to be affiliated with the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
