Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when telephoning hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, on various occasions, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
