Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
