Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
