Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not law enforcement officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, vanish without a trace.
