Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Lake Garda Business Owners

They falsely pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
