Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Fraudulent Subscription Calls

They masquerade as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining the money, disappear and are no longer visible.
