Lake Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners
They pose as carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s central and upper areas, offering subscriptions to military-themed magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from financial authorities, the police, firefighters, or local police officers.
Beware of scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving payment, disappear from view.
