Garda Scams: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Offering Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately report to the true carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears without a trace.
