Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s mid and upper areas, these scammers offer subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual military personnel but impostors who, on different occasions, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the actual carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
