Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the urban police.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
