Garda Scam Alert: Impersonators Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, remain vigilant and immediately alert the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
