Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, then disappear.
