Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s mid- and upper-area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, once they have received the money, disappear.
