Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Fraudulent Magazine Offers

Themselves as carabinieri, scammers are making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear and are no longer seen.
