Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or local police.

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining the money, disappears without a trace.
