Garda-area Fraudsters Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who, after receiving payment, disappear.
