Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Armed Forces.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
