Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri for Fraudulent Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not legitimate military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of finance authorities, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the payment, cease contact.
