Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
