Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the central and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately contact the actual Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
