Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in central and upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the Arma.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen victim to someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
