Garda Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
