Scammers Pretend to Be Police to Trick Garda Region Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
