Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
