Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
