Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear from sight.
