Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
