Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
