Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses in Garda Area

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
