Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

So be cautious and immediately contact the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
