Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Fleece Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear and are no longer visible.
