Fake Carabinieri Calls Targeting Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines linked to the force.

They are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear.
