Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
