Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after getting the money, disappear.
