Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Businesses into Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The Carabinieri impersonators are calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or those having no connection with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the legitimate Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
