Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the army.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
