Garda Area Scams: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Seek Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by those who,

after receiving the money, disappear and cannot be found again.
