Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
