Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately contact the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
