Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the military.

They are not real military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
