Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military-associated magazines.

These are not law enforcement officers, but scammers who, from case to case, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
