Beware of Phone Scams by Impersonators Claiming to Be Carabinieri
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance agencies, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
after receiving the money, disappears.
